Administration
Principal, Dr. Mary Catherine Law
Dear Makos,
I am delighted to introduce myself as the Principal of Orange Beach Elementary.
Orange Beach Elementary is an amazing school as reflected by the 2021 National Blue Ribbon Award and the multiple times it has been given the Safest School in Alabama award. While all of the accolades are impressive, the people and this community are truly what make this school extraordinary.
My husband, Joseph, and I have three daughters; Lillie, Kakki and Virginia. All three of our girls attended Orange Beach Elementary and had a positive experience. We chose to move to Orange Beach, because of the educational program, values and community. I can’t tell you how excited I am for my family to be a part of Orange Beach City Schools.
Knowledge is key. When we know better, we do better. As an educator, I’ve taught multiple grades at the elementary level at St. Paul's Episcopal School and in public schools in Mobile and Baldwin County. I served as an assistant principal at Robertsdale Elementary, before being named principal at Orange Beach Elementary. My undergraduate degree from Auburn University is in Communications. I have an Alternative Masters in Elementary Education with a leadership certificate from the University of South Alabama. I graduated with an Education Specialist degree from Auburn University and am currently enrolled in their doctoral program in Educational Leadership. Needless to say, I am passionate about learning!
As a leader, I want others to know who I am and what I value. The things I value most are family, faith and enjoying life. I believe in establishing relationships and treating others like family. Orange Beach provides a beautiful backdrop for us to enjoy the beauty of God’s creation. As members of Orange Beach United Methodist Church, we embrace opportunities to serve others which is something I have taken with me throughout my career in education. When you walk through the doors of the school, I hope the smiles, smell of crayons, and sounds of laughter make you feel welcome. My focus is on the emotional and academic success of every child. I want your child to achieve their greatest potential while making friends, experiencing the arts, learning to give back, moving and playing, and exploring Sea, Sand and Stars.
Creating a Lasting Legacy starts here. Welcome to the Mako Family!
Sincerely,
Mary Catherine Law

I am honored to serve as the Assistant Principal of Orange Beach Elementary School. My career in education began in 2005. I have taught at various grade levels, including 2nd grade at Oak Mountain Elementary, 5th grade at Spanish Fort Elementary, and 2nd and 3rd grades at Gulf Shores Elementary. Additionally, I have had the opportunity to serve as the itinerant Assistant Principal at both Orange Beach Elementary and Gulf Shores Elementary.
Born and raised in Hoover, Alabama, I began my educational journey at Auburn University, where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Education. I continued my studies at The University of Montevallo, earning a Master of Education, followed by a degree in Administrative Leadership from The University of South Alabama.
Since 2009, I have called Orange Beach home. My husband, Rusty, and I have two wonderful boys, Russell and Rhodes. We are active members of Orange Beach Methodist Church and enjoy giving back to the community that has supported us.
I am deeply committed to fostering a learning environment at Orange Beach Elementary that empowers students to take ownership of their education. By working closely with families and staff, we can provide each child with the tools they need to thrive and succeed. I look forward to an incredible year and the opportunity to collaborate with our students, parents, and staff to make it the best year yet.

This marks my 15th year in education, and I feel incredibly fortunate to be working in such a vibrant and community-centered school environment. I have had the pleasure of living in Orange Beach for the past 13 years with my wife, Kylie, and our two wonderful daughters, Addison and Allie. Our family truly loves everything this beautiful coastal town has to offer!
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Education from The University of Alabama and a Master’s degree in School Administration from the University of West Alabama.
